About Cytech technical TWO
A Cytech technical two qualification relates to the assembly, maintenance and servicing of customer's cycles to ensure continued optimum performance and compliance with manufacturer's specification.

Brakes (cable operated)

Basic wheel building
Cytech technical two provides full practical training and assessment in the core area of bike assembly, set-up and ongoing servicing and maintenance.
Health & Safety in the workshop
Customer service skills
Pre-delivery Inspection (PDI) – set-up, adjustment and frame alignment
Headsets, gears, rim brakes – removal, fitting, set-up and adjustment
Hub servicing – strip down and rebuild
Introduction to disc brakes and hydraulic bleeding
Bottom bracket removal, thread chasing and fitting including use of torque wrench
Introduction to internal hub gears
Wheel truing & spoke replacement
Wheel building – 3 cross lacing pattern, spoke measurement and tensioning
Full bike service – strip down, frame prep, rebuild and set-up for test ride)
Course description
Cytech Technical Two is considered the industry trade standard for any professional cycle mechanic. It includes 2 weeks of intensive training and assessment, delivering the skills and knowledge required to be a professional bike mechanic. This is the must do course for anyone serious about becoming a professionally trained bicycle mechanic.
Suitability
This course is aimed at individuals who have been working in the cycle trade for 1 to 2 years that are now looking to undertake a higher level of service work and to build upon the work experience that they have already gained. Being Cytech certified, it is also useful for mechanics that have never received any formal training, to gain a professional qualification. Candidates are expected to have completed and passed their Cytech technical one qualification.
